2016 Review
What a year – a testament to this is that I haven’t written one single post in 12 months. It’s been a roller coaster here in edits, what we’ve been scooting about in the kitchen for.
Weddings:
We were ahead of the game with this years Pantone colour ‘Greenery’ in a lot of our 2016 weddings. From our North Norfolk garden we nurtured and gathered abundant greenery on the shape of star jasmine, thyme, mint, passion flowers and foliage, strawberries, lemon balm and margoram. We nipped violas for cake tops, tiny rose buds and grasses. We’ve worked with some brilliant florists Flower30 and Swaffham Florist probably get more mentions in dispatches than most.
Styled Shoots & Magazines:
This year has been a bumper one for shoots. I love these collaborations, it’s always mind blowing to see what a bunch of creatives can do in a day together. Holding it all together at the photographers who can make a shot a million dollars – up there are Big Phat Photos and Tatum Reid Photography, I can’t get enough of their stuff! Penny at Little Lending Co is my True North when it comes to styling, she always has the pulse of the moment in clear sight.

Media:
We’ve enjoyed extensive coverage in Your East Anglian Wedding magazine which is number one geographically for this area. I love a larger coverage but for Norfolk Weddings you just can’t beat this bi-monthly mag. Norfolk Brides have an annual handbag size which we grace the pages of in a number of places – all of my consutlations get a copy with a foot note of my receoomendations in there, folks I’ve worked with on shoots or real weddings and really rate.
Holkham Christmas:
If you weren’t aware (you might be now) I do a gingerbread creation each Winter for Holkham Hall, Lady Leicester has blummin’ brilliant ideas and transforms Holkham for December – the North State Dining Room is our most deocrated haunt. This year we saw the return of the Gingerbread House which was situated in the Entrance Hall then Big Ben bonged his way through the festivities. He went a bit viral… Talter were first to tweet about it,
BBC Look East, BBC News Online and Matthew Gudgin from BBC Radio Norfolk all caught a (sound) bite and Fabcebook and Instagram went a little bit loopy too.
Earleir this year I called Nelsons Journey to see if there was something I could do for some of the juniors struggling a bit at birthdays or on special dates and asked if I could do something with them in the way of a cake to sweeten the day. I’ve been thrilled to go along and meet some of the children and can honestly say I’ve been heartbroken and lifted in the same 5 minutues repeatedly. Nelson Journey is a charity for bereaved children in Norfolk and take self referals or recommendations for young people up the age of 17 working through the grieving process and offering club enenings, fun days and 1:1 support for those in need. Please spread the word if you feel there is a young person struggling with bereavement.
